Introductory Chapter On the Hebrew Grammar Noun Patterns

In Hebrew grammar, noun patterns (משקלי השמות) vary in several ways; some nouns have a letter added at the beginning or the end, while others have no additions. The added letters are indicated by the mnemonic "האמנת”י" (Ameneti) . Therefore, instruction in these forms is required and an analysis of them is provided here according to the פעל (Pa'al meaning basic VERB) form, as in the way that the early grammarians analyzed all the words, whether verbs or nouns, according to the פעל form, and as my late father, my master, arranged them in his memoirs. I will elaborate this method to the best of my ability and may G-d stand with me in this.

משקלי השמות משתנים לכמה פנים, יש שמות בתוספת אות בתחלה או באחרונה ויש מבלי תוספת. והאותיות הנוספות סימנם האמנת”י . לכן אתה צריך להורותך במשקלים, ואשקלם לך כלם בשקל פעל , כמו ששקלו הראשונים כל המלות בין בפעלים בין בשמות בשקל פעל וכמו שסדרם אדוני אבי ז”ל בספר הזכרון, ואוסיף לפרש לך עליהם כפי אשר תשיג ידי, ואלהים יהיה עמדי.

First, I must preface with the topic of vowels before discussing the nouns, because the vowels are the cause of the changes in the nouns, and students will also benefit from this knowledge throughout the Tanakh.
